Written Statement: Academi Wales Annual Report 2019 – 2020

Academi Wales recently published their Annual Report for 2019 – 2020. The report encapsulates Academi Wales’ key achievements over the course of the year, sharing details and key statistics from their flagship events.

The report opens with a heartfelt thank you to Jo Hicks – Academi Wales’ former Director of 10 years who left the role in 2019 – and welcomes Paul Schanzer, Academi Wales’ new Director who describes his excitement in taking on the leadership role.

It’s great to see that Academi Wales have continued to offer high quality leadership events and interventions to delegates in the public and third sectors in Wales throughout some challenging circumstances this year, including planning a Virtual Summer School – the first of its kind – quickly and efficiently. The Virtual Summer School received excellent feedback, with delegates stating how well it fitted in around their busy schedules and I thoroughly enjoyed taking part by speaking to delegates virtually from my home.

The second cohort of the All Wales Public Service Graduate Programme came to an end in August and the Graduates truly learned what it means to be a part of a One Welsh Public Service this year, transferring their skills between organisations and placements. A programme such as this will prove invaluable in their development.

I look forward to seeing the results of the Leading in a Bilingual Country Programme (proof of concept) and the Aspiring Directors Programme – both unique leadership programmes dedicated to supporting leaders in Wales further develop and hone their leadership skills and behaviours.
