An annual campaign aimed at Primary schools to promote appropriate use of 999 and life-saving skills. Public Health Wales reassures eligible people that there is enough free NHS flu vaccine, but warns that getting vaccinated will take longer due to high demand.  Demand among eligible groups for the free NHS flu vaccine has reached unprecedented levels in Wales. Community pharmacies and GP surgeries across the country are experiencing high volumes of enquiries, and many report current appointments are full. Read more
Wales has become the first in the UK to routinely provide all cancer patients being treated with certain types of chemotherapy DPYD screening to identify their risk of severe side effects and help prevent this occurring. An estimated 10% of patients prescribed fluoropyrimidine drugs, which are widely used for the treatment of cancer, can develop severe, sometimes life-threatening side effects. Read more

GVS, with thanks to funding from Comic Relief, is administering a small grants scheme to help voluntary groups in the Vale of Glamorgan. Small grants are available up to a maximum of £500. Read more

The HOPE Project are hosting The Advocacy “Big Events” during the weeks beginning Monday 19 October 20 and Monday 2 November 20. The theme of the “Big Events” aligns with the findings from the recent survey “Advocacy during COVID-19”. This survey was led by the Advocacy Lead, National Development Team for Inclusion (NDTi) and was undertaken to understand how people have been impacted as well as how well the advocacy sector in Wales were able to respond and support people during the COVID-19 crisis. There will be a report, which will be published shortly, available and distributed before the Advocacy “Big Event”. Read more
