The Chair welcomed everyone to the mtg. & the register was taken.
Paperwork was distributed including: Agenda, mins. of mtg., Chair’s report & update from Andrew Eccleshare (from our February mtg.).



2 Apologies: 

Apologies noted.

3 Speaker: Kyle Phillips Group Manager Transport Services VoGC gave an informative & relaxed talk, accompanied by his colleague Lisa Elliott.  Kyle gave an ‘Overview on Active Travel which included an update on existing & potential schemes’ & this was followed by a Q&A round robin.

(Kyle also, kindly gave an update on Vale buses in relation to Cardiff Bus proposal to withdraw, plus discussion/Q&A session as this had been requested at our February mtg. by members).

In attendance was Cllr. Ben Gray who is our new Older People’s Champion & Cllr. Kathryn McCaffer the new Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services & Transport.  We have invited them both to attend future Transport Group mtgs.

Before stopping for a tea/coffee & biscuits plus chat we posed for a photograph which will be included in the Transport Group AGM Report in September.



4 Ratification of Minutes 12th February:

The minutes were ratified by GD & EH, with no objections.



5 Matters Arising/Actions/Communication: 

Information received is sent out via email/put on our website page.


Andrew Eccleshare (AE) VoGC emailed an update sheet from Passenger Transport (included with April mtgs. paperwork).

Further email from a member, in response to AE’s reply: The problem with the 89A/B is that it only runs every one & a half hours!

Email from our web manager, our V50+SF Transport page has had a revamp, please could you take a look & forward your feedback?

Phone call from a member: 96 bus stop moved from Wood Street to around the corner, no-one knows this.  (AE emailed information which was printed for the member).

Text from a member: They wanted a copy of the WAG Transport Consultation & a place on the Transport Event at the City Hall.  (Helen Moses printed off a copy & tried to book a space but, places were ‘all sold out’).

Email from AE the Team have moved office but, still same address.

Email from member: 98 route in Barry which only runs for half the day.  Extended for a trial period but, not increase in numbers (say Cardiff Bus), member asked for figures to back up this statement.  (AE forwarded to KP for a response which was received).

Email from Cardiff Bus: Cardiff Bus Travel Centre has moved (as from 4th March), from Cardiff’s Central Library to the old Ticketline office @ 47, Westgate Street.  The new office offers the same service as the library did.  The office is open: Monday to Friday 10am-6pm, Saturday 10am-4pm, Sunday closed.

Email from a member: Lots of talk & action going on around rail services @ the moment & they included a copy of the Latest Transport Focus Report.

Telephone call received from a member: 96 Cardiff bus didn’t turn up!  They rang Cardiff Bus & the man on the end of the ‘phone was rude.  (The member requested AE to ring them but, no news as yet)

Email from member asking if I was attending the ‘Improving Public Transport’ Consultation Event at Cardiff City Hall.  (I did attend).

Member sent newsletter: We do not have a community rail partnership in this are but, they understand that over the coming year Transport for Wales will be looking at areas of South Wales to be designated for Community Rail Partnership Status.

Member sent Eltis Newsletter which featured a selection of the latest mobility news also, case study about joint Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) prepared by neighbouring Belgium cities of Hasselt & Genk.

Received the Valeways Spring Walks Programme & their Newsletter, including information on the Walking Festival in May.

Cardiff Bus update of services, changes from 31st March.

Received East Vale Community Transport information.

Phone call received by the Team from a lady requesting information about our Trips, after reading the Herald.  (Invited her to our mtgs.)
