Thank you / Diolch : New EHRC report – Accessible public transport for older and disabled people in Wales

Today, on International Day of Disabled People, research is published on  ‘Accessible public transport for older and disabled people in Wales’ – which can be found here. https://www.equalityhumanrights.com/en/publication-download/accessible-public-transport-older-and-disabled-people
The report highlights the experiences shared with us and that older and disabled people find the public transport system in Wales to be largely inaccessible, limiting their right to live independently. We make recommendations to public bodies on how to develop an inclusive public transport system.
We will be using this research to advise Welsh Government as they develop their new national transport strategy: Llwybr newydd, which they are currently consulting on. We will also engage with other public bodies and providers including Transport for Wales, sharing this research and advising on how to improve the way they embedded embed equality and accessibility in the public transport system in Wales.
