Public Health Wales: 22,317 Covid cases and eight deaths

PUBLIC Health Wales has reported a total of 22,317 new Covid cases and eight Covid-related deaths in a three-day period.

The latest Covid data from Public Health Wales reflects a three-day period (December 1, 2021, up until 9am on January 2, 2022) due to public holidays.

According to Public Health Wales there are 22,317 newly reported cases – 20,265 in Wales – which includes 1,052 in the Vale of Glamorgan and 2,636 in Cardiff.

Public Health Wales’ statistics for the three-day period also includes eight Covid-related deaths, none which occurred within Cardiff and Vale University Health Board.

Of the eight newly reported deaths five were within Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board, two in Powys University Health Board, and one is a “resident outside Wales”.

This data brings Public Health Wales’ death toll throughout the entire Covid pandemic to 6,589 which includes 18 residents outside Wales.

The newly reported cases of Covid (between December 1, 2021, and January 2, 2022) according to Public Health Wales are as follows:
