Temporary workers further competition: circa £1 million saved

Working in partnership with 5 South East Wales local authorities, we facilitated a temporary workers further-competition that has delivered cash releasing savings of almost £1 million.

With existing arrangements were coming to an end, we worked with a project team representing the 5 local authorities to develop, issue, and evaluate the further competition.

The results were impressive and an innovative hybrid solution won the competition for Randstad Solutions Ltd. This will save the 5 authorities almost £1 million over the next 3 years on agency fees.

Supply teachers

Schools and local authorities using the our supply teachers framework should be aware of the Education Ministers proposed changes to the teacher pay scale. These proposals are currently out to consultation, which will conclude on 22 September. Following a final decision on the proposals, a revised Schools Teachers’ Pay and Conditions Document (STPCD) will be published and will supersede the current version.

Our framework, aligned to the Code of Practice for Ethical Employment, introduced a minimum pay rate for qualified teachers undertaking a supply role. This minimum pay rate is linked to the teacher pay scale so this proposed pay increase will mean that the framework minimum rate will rise to £138.55 a day. Please ensure colleagues in education and school departments monitor these proposed changes in readiness for subsequent changes.
