Bedfordshire residents warned over suspicious “loft insulation” telephone scam

The Trading Standards team has received reports of suspicious telephone calls being made to residents, raising concerns over their current loft insulation.

The criminal claims to be calling on behalf of the council, saying your loft insulation is insufficient and that you could face criminal proceedings if you don’t have it improved. more 

Fraud prevention Police warn public after Ribble Valley officer witnesses attempted phone scam

10th September 2020

Police in Lancashire are warning residents to be aware of telephone scams after an officer witnessed a member of the public receive such a call.

The calls involve criminals calling people saying that they are from HMRC, telling them that they owe large amount of money in unpaid taxes and unless they pay it off during the phone call, they will issue a high court warrant. more

House surveyor Dennis, 71, scammed out of his £330,000 life savings

A pensioner who was scammed out of his £330,000 life savings has revealed that it’s like being ‘stabbed in the heart’, but confessed that he still didn’t tell his children ‘for four years’ to avoid their devastation.

People in Flintshire warned over scam “outstanding parking fine” email

14th September 2020

People in Flintshire are being warned about a scam email that is circulating locally purporting to come from “HM Courts and Tribunals.”

The email states that the receiver has an outstanding parking fine to pay and to click on a link within the email. more
