Mobile Post Office to cover rural areas of Gwent and Barry

A MOBILE Post Office will be introduced next month covering rural communities around south Wales.

The mobile Post Office will be run by Crumlin Post Office, and will cover areas in Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly and Barry.

It will restore service to 12 communities – Gelligaer, Markham, Highlight Park, Colcot Road and Merthyr Dyfan, Gwaelod-y-Garth, Efail Isaf, Pant, Tylorstown, Cross Inn, Cwmaman and Bedlinog.

And a further four communities which are currently served by an outreach service will also switch to the mobile service.

The outreach services for Trinant, Cwm, Llanhilleth and Six Bells will stop from Friday, October 8.

The mobile Post Office services will begin on Monday, October 11.

The mobile service for Gwaelod-y-Garth, Efail Isaf Pant, Trinant, Cwm, Llanhilleth and Six Bells are permanent stops, while the other stops are only temporary whilst the Post Office looks for a permanent solution.

Kaitmay John, network provision lead, said: “We are delighted to be restoring Post Office service to so many rural communities in Wales.

“We thank the Postmaster for Crumlin for providing this service.”

The Post Office is asking customers to give feedback on the mobile service once it is introduced.

Feedback will close on October 22, and customers can share their views at postofficeviews.co.uk using the code 597458.
