Living Streets Cymru news

At Living Streets Cymru, we want to make walking the natural choice for everyone in Wales and we’re looking for volunteers to help people over 50 be more active in the Cardiff and Newport areas.

How does Walking Friends Wales work?

Our programme aims to help older adults start walking in their communities, make new connections and voice the need for changes to their local walking environment.

As a volunteer you would take part in walks for groups of people who have been referred to the project and who may find it difficult to keep active within their community.

Training will take place over two days and we’ll ask you to commit to 12 weeks of volunteering so that participants really benefit from the project.

You’ll spend some time getting to know the participants and designing routes together, and you can then decide whether you’d like to be a walk leader or encourage people at the back of the group to keep walking.

If you’re enthusiastic about walking and keeping active and would like to use this to help your community, please get in touch.

And if you know people who might be interested, please share a link to our page on your social media.

Happy walking,

Morgan Nicholls
