The 1st of October is Older People’s Day which also coincides with the UN International Day of Older Persons.

People are living longer and 23% of the UK will be aged 65 and over by 2035. Older People’s Day exists to challenge negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes and focuses on celebrating the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society and the economy. The Government and other supporting groups, under the “Full of Life” banner, have made UK Older People’s Day the focus of a wide programme of activity, celebrating later life. Numerous organisations across the UK are working together to coordinate a national programme of activities and events leading up to and around 1 October.

To celebrate Older People’s Day we are holding a free day of entertainment: A choir, country dancing, stalls with information and refreshments. We will be at CF.61, the new rural H.Q. of Glamorgan Voluntary Services, Llantwit Major. Please join us from 10am to 3pm on Tuesday, October 1st.
