The 1st of October is Older People’s Day which also coincides with the UN International Day of Older Persons.
People are living longer and 23% of the UK will be aged 65 and over by 2035. Older People’s Day exists to challenge negative attitudes and outdated stereotypes and focuses on celebrating the achievements and contributions that older people make to our society and the economy. The Government and other supporting groups, under the “Full of Life” banner, have made UK Older People’s Day the focus of a wide programme of activity, celebrating later life. Numerous organisations across the UK are working together to coordinate a national programme of activities and events leading up to and around 1 October.
