How to reduce Unwanted Calls – police advice.

The following is a guide to help reduce unwanted callers to your phone.  A number of these are FREE:-

A number of telephone providers offer a FREE call feature, which allows you to block nuisance calls.  Call your telephone provider direct to discuss these options.

CALLER ID – Screen callers with CALLER ID.  Do not answer calls to numbers you do not recognise!

ANSWER PHONE – Don’t recognise the number? Let it trip into answer-machine.  This gives you time to think, is it a SCAM and to discuss with friends/ family.

Never say you are out on your answer machine message.

EX-DIRECTORY – Register your number as ex-directory. Always tick the box to prevent your information from being shared with other agencies.

Block the last caller – simply lift the receiver and dial 1572.  Follow the instructions to block the last call to your phone.  This is a FREE service.

There are a number of phones and devices available to buy that allow you to block unwanted callers.

Register your number with the Telephone Preference Service for FREE; by calling 0345 070 0707.  This will reduce sales and marketing calls.

Have you considered changing your number?

MOBILE PHONE – You can block calls to your mobile phone.  Contact your mobile phone provider for further details.

REMEMBER – no company will EVER ask for your bank details over the phone.

Blociwch y galwr diwethaf – codwch y derbynnydd a deialwch 1572.  Dilynwch y cyfarwyddiadau er mwyn blocio’r alwad ddiwethaf i’ch ffôn.  Mae hwn yn wasanaeth AM DDIM.
