Harpist Catrin Finch to perform at Penarth Pier Pavilion

AN INTERNATIONALLY-RENOWNED harpist will take centre stage in Penarth for one night only.

Internationally renowned harpist, musician, and composer Catrin Finch – considered one of the most accomplished harpists of her generation – is bringing her hit show The Story So Far to Penarth.

Ms Finch has been widely acclaimed during her 35-year career and has celebrated big successes including:

  • Being the official harpist to King Charles – then the Prince of Wales;
  • Presenting a three-part series, The Harp’s Journey, for BBC Radio Three.

Ms Finch is also a visiting professor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Royal Academy of Music in London.

The Story So Far will be performed at Penarth Pier Pavilion on Saturday, September 24. The doors and bar will open from 6.30pm with the concert starting at 7.30pm.

Vale Council’s cabinet member for art, education and the Welsh language, Cllr Rhiannon Birch, said: “I’m delighted to see yet another promising event being held at this historic venue.

“The Pavilion is an important local asset and it’s great to see so many wonderful events being held there, whether they be theatre, music, exhibitions, or lectures.

“The success of all recent performances at both the Pavilion and the Kymin Gardens demonstrates the potential and capabilities that these venues can offer.”

Penarth Pier Pavilion – which is managed by the Vale of Glamorgan Council – has hosted a variety of performances, including a summer of theatre and music performances such as Kiki Dee and Carmelo Luggeri in concert.

Pavilion manager, Karen Davies, said: “We’re delighted to welcome virtuoso harpist Catrin Finch for one night only at Penarth Pier Pavilion.

“It’s sure to be a magical evening of music in the beautiful setting of the Pavilion gallery.”
