Tyres and associated services: Supporting Welsh SMEs
We are grateful to all stakeholders who helped to inform the procurement strategy for the re-tender of the tyres and associated services framework agreement. Thanks to your input, we have developed a lotting structure that facilitates Welsh SME and local supplier participation.
As part of the process to establish this agreement, we ensured that the invitation to tender aligned with key policy initiatives, including the Wellbeing of Future Generations and Community Benefits. We worked closely with the Welsh Government’s Decarbonisation team to help inform the specification requirements.
Our framework agreement appointed 5 successful Welsh SME’s and increased flexibility for customer organisations through increased numbers appointed to each lot. Successful suppliers have pledged to recycle tyres through more effective measures such as road surfacing material.

Purchase of vehicles
We are engaging with public sector organisations to help inform its procurement strategy in relation to a potential new purchase of fleet vehicles framework agreement. The new framework agreement will look at the provision of electric, hydrogen and other potential vehicles to the Welsh public sector.
We will be working with stakeholders to identify their needs and the changing infrastructure needed to support the service provision. We are seeking volunteers to participate in our customer focus group to develop a specification that will assist organisations reach their decarbonisation goals.
