Covid: More than 70 new Vale cases

PUBLIC Health Wales have released the latest Covid figures which show that the Vale of Glamorgan has had 73 new cases.

While this is an increase on the previous day’s figures, the Vale no longer has the highest case rate in the country.

Wales has seen an overall increase in cases with 1,548 new ones reported including residents outside Wales.

The average case rate for Wales is 47.6 cases per 100,000 people and the Vale (54.6) and Cardiff (55.9) both have higher rates.

Two more people have died in Wales, putting the death toll at 7,041 people.

No deaths occurred in the Cardiff and Vale area, meaning that 924 people have died in the area since the pandemic began.
