Coronavirus update for Cardiff & Vale

Many people are trying to find out what is happening with vaccination in the Vale. The latest information on the Cardiff and Vale University website (31st December,2020) is that so far the Health Board has only received 5,500 doses. These have been used for Health Board staff ,other health staff such as the ambulance service, care and social care staff. The vaccination centre for the Vale is Holm View leisure centre but this will not be operative until futher supplies of vaccine are received ,some time in January, 2021. The supplies of vaccine come via the UK government, There is a current scam circulating , purporting to be an NHS site, offering vaccination and requesting personal information such as bank accounts- do not respond to this. The Health Board has advised that people in priority groups will receive a letter re an appointment for vaccination . As more supplies become available the Health Board is exploring the use of GP surgeries . For the moment people are asked to be patient- enquiries to GPs and the Health Board will only distract staff already under a lot of pressure.
